Daniel Aaron kept this scrap book from 1937 through 2011. It’s contents can be summed up in this quote from the novelist Nathanael West: “Few things are sadder than the truly monstrous.”
Aaron is the preeminent Americanist of his generation and the first to receive a PhD from Harvard in the History of American Civilization. He was the founding President of the Library of America.
